07/07 :  The Descent / Viral Marketing...

i wonder if i'm cool enough to start something going around Myspace?

my current fave movie The Descent ("six chicks with picks", and that's ALL you need to know) has really gotten me excited about the US release, so i'm spreading the movie around work, telling everyone i know, and my latest experiment is to send out a bulletin to my small circle of 40 friends... i'm curious to see how far it goes. it would be really cool if this small film does well... and i haven't the foggiest how it'll do. it came out just ahead of that movie "i hear is worse than crappy", The Cave.

a few things sadden me, tho. The US poster seems kinda weak (i like the mysterious, eeriness of the UK poster) .. it also completely changes the typeface used in the poster and movie as well... (yeah, i'm a font geek), also, there's one small thing i heard about the movie that changed... i guess i and everyone else will have to go see the movie and then see how it differs from the UK oriignal (via google video, mayhap? well.. besides buying or downl... *cough* the movie)

oi! i want to ooze so much more over this movie, but it's 5:45am, and i have a splitting headache :'( ... nite all!

and again, GO SEE THE MOVIE!!!11one

22/06 :  host stupidity

well, i guess it just wasn't meant to last... as you can tell.

there seems to be a host of 12 year olds paid by my webhost 1and1 to scan sites to see what's naughty and not allowed, EVEN INSIDE ARCHIVES (in folders not linked to anywhere on my site). bit unsettling, seeing as how i had my 1040 tax forms hidden in my webspace a while back...

so end result is that, Yakitate!! Japan is no longer availible. they don't seem to imply that they got a DMCA notice or even a complaint. Yakitate can't even be stored on my site for my own reference (my dumb ass ended up deleting EVERYTHING before i'd realized i didn't have some of the eps in the 50s and 60s on my computer and/or burnt). they even took issue with the 90 second clip of JUST THE CLOSING CREDITS! (which wasn't linked to, either!)

but the proverbial straw that breaks the camel's back is that i can't even have my own MP3s on my site, EVEN IF i password protect the folder and even if i restrict the access by IP....!

whatever ... we'll see where i take my business when i find some hosts less pissy about that last item...

i DO have some plans to make use of my bandwidth (completely legally) coming up, tho... not sure what the demand for the content will be, but we'll see... (has to do with scene.org slash pouet.net, one of my other interests ;)

11/06 :  oh man, fun

described in as few words as possible? Duck Hunt with a crass twist? oh MAN this is fun ^_^

29/05 :  New Download Method!

well, to try to generate more impressions (to pay for this insane bandwidth i'm offering), and possibly an interesting ad that flies your way, you now have to click on the link to the ep you want, instead of downloading 20 eps at a time >_>

so just click on Yakitate!! Japan 01, then click on the Blue Downwards Pointing Arrow on the next screen, and VOILA! you have your episode, flying your way at my webhost's claimed 18gbits... (*cough*, yeah right >_>)

25/05 :  baa baa sheep

so, i totally forgot what i was going to post about today.

one thing i DO remember (well, just now discovered) was an INSANELY cool "music vid" based on animations developed from the Electric Sheep project...(and so far i've only watched the first 30 seconds of it....waiting to see it on my wall ^_^) ...

anywho, catch it here ...

29/04 :  I BLED FOR YOU!!!!!11

so like, on a whim, i gave blood today. and i hate needles, blood, etc. i got lightheaded first when i chopped a bit of my finger off.

i figure someday my dumb ass likely will need blood, so, hey, why not give? get cookies, juice, ice cream, and that warm fuzzy (manly *snicker*) feeling after doing so.

only problem is that i'm sleepy. and i only ate a half-bowl of some light chili (been trying to Reverse Engineer Wendy's Chili) so ..

but yeah. all in all an interesting first-time experience...

i can't impress upon you HOW MUCH i hate needs/blood-letting/etc but .. it is a good thing to give. i like to rationalize it with "what if [co-worker x] runs you over with their car/motorcycle/truck and you're in the ER needing blood and there IS NONE! and what if that happened becuase THEY didn't give blood?" it at least makes me chuckle a bit X) (i'm not one of those "ribbon" people, either *rolls eyes*, but i'm not a YOU MUST GIVE BLOOD *guilt*guilt*guilt*) ...plus i hear you get drunk real easily, real fast if you do ;)

p.s... it's very very strange to feel the hot blood running thru the tube, over your arm

22/04 :  mwahahahaha

it was a struggle (and that doesn't even begin to describe how hard it was for a unix noob like myself), but, with help i figured out how to load up my old webstats webapp again (but you can't read them -- mwahahahaha). now i can see how's owning my site/bandwidth/etc and where it's coming from.

and speaking of webstats-pulled-referrals, nods to go the firey geek-babe audigy and lawrence lin's PSF mirror (with original archive credits going to the classic Zophar's Domain, and their PSF archive.

i like teh videogame music :)

12/04 :  *cough* *cough* and, yeah, other content...

so like, FINALLY got the google ads working. and those damn links in the bottom right of the page...

might be a good idea to get them up before my site gets raped by Yakitate!! Japan leecher/fanboys. also uploaded a few more PSF videogame soundtracks (including the Final Fantasy 12 'work in progress'), too "OSTs" for the purists... >_> ...may have to separate the two limits if i can figure out how <_<

btw, re: Yakitate: limiting downloads to like 30gb a day so that i don't blow by my bw limits in a few days... i see ~1,000 seeders and a 400 leechers, so, yeah, it's a bit popular...

edit: finally figured out how to not limit the PSF files.. i think/hope o_O ... let me know if any of the files aren't overridden please :)
